"This in no way replaces a 40 gallon water heater. Unless you live in Az where ground temperatures are high, your performance with this is way south of stellar. you have temperature/ pressure balanced shower valves, the water heater may not even activate.
This line has problems with flow activation if the water is not absolutely clean. Look at the recommendation for water filtration. If flow activation is not working, the entire water heater must be replaced and if you live in the west and this happens under warranty, Bosch will send this UPS ground and you have a week without hot water.
Electric tankless consume a lot of power and produce so little flow. Not a good idea if you are looking to replace that tank."
